53 mile Ultra Trail Marathon through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, Scotland, UK
Race Date – Saturday 27th April 2024

Route Details

West Highland Way markersThe race route follows the first 53 miles of the West Highland Way footpath from Milngavie to Tyndrum.  The route is signposted by WHW marker posts. For the race, the organisers will put up additional arrows in potential ‘problem spots’ to assist runners with navigation.

A mile or so after Rowardennan, the race route will deviate slightly from the official WHW low path and will 'take the high road'. This will be clearly signposted and a marshal will be at the junction.

Terrain: Mixed (90% trail/10% road)

The trail sections vary greatly in nature, going from smooth hard-packed man-made paths, to undulating runnable sections, to technical rock and tree root dominated terrain where you will need to use your hands as often as your feet.

We would recommend trail shoes, especially if there has been lots of rain leading up to race day, although many runners have successfully completed the event wearing road shoes.
